Feet & Back Pain. Really?
First blog post alert! If you told me even a year ago that I would post blogs on my website, I wouldn’t have believed you.
Yet, here we are. Funny how life works.
Lets jump right in.
Is your foot causing your back pain?
Stand up and see where your weight is shifted to on your feet. Is it towards the front half where the toes are? Is it towards the back half near the heel? Is it on the outside or inside part of your feet?
We all know our body is connected but sometimes its unclear how. When weight is shift towards different parts of your feet, it effects the way your body carries itself up top.
Think the leaning tower of Pisa. The base of the tower determines the trajectory.
Now most people dont look like the leaning tower of Pisa, but imagine what the tower needs to do to straighten itself out. Exactly, it has to bend somewhere.
And that somewhere is usually the back.
So one thing you can do to experiment with this, and possibly effect your own back pain, is to be mindful of how you shift your weight on your feet and make subtle changes. If your weight is shifted forward, try shifting it back and see what happens.
